What If...Campbell Wilson headed IndiGo?

Original post
What If...Campbell Wilson headed IndiGo? Pieter Elbers came from Full Service Carrier (FSC) KLM Royal Dutch Airlines into Low Cost Carrier (LCC) IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd). Campbell Wilson moved from LCC Scoot into FSC Air India Limited. Both were already operating outside their native models. Elbers seems expansionist and positioning-heavy. Powerful in strong systems, risky in fragile ones (like India). So what would IndiGo look like under Wilson? Instead of - “Global carrier” narrative. - Widebody headlines. - Alliance signalling. Maybe: - Operational discipline protected before network (ambition) expanded. - Margins defended aggressively. Less “we are becoming global”, more “we are making a lot of money predictably and quietly”. - IndiGo Stretch products monetised through segmentation, not cost and product bloat. Very Scoot meets Indian scale. Indigo’s brand was not built on aspiration or premiumisation unlike most FSCs. It was built on reliability and value for money. On one promise: It will get you there on time at low price. The December disruption dented IndiGo’s biggest asset: reliability. That reliability was a unique brand asset in this market. And once dented, it’s expensive to rebuild, if it gets rebuilt at all. Not just the reputation, but the engine that powered it. P.S.
